Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre is a pro-life pet rescue organization founded in 2009, near the town of Melkbosstrand in South Africa.
The center is currently home to more than 600 domestic animals such as dogs, cats, horses, pigs, rabbits, various birds and even a goat. The majority of these animals are rescued from the impoverished communities and poor regions of the country, where neglect and abuse are a daily occurrence. The Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre works hard to provide a safe haven and help them find a new, permanent home.
Besides the daily rescuing, care and rehabilitation, the shelter’s workers strive to address the problem of stray pets on a broader scale through education and sterilization programs that are run by the center itself or in collaboration with other welfare organizations. The center shares a common goal with these organizations to reduce the number of unwanted domestic animals in the area and to encourage volunteering, as well as teaching proper care, the importance of sterilization and humane treatment of animals.
The Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre has recently moved to a new farm and is now in the process of rebuilding the center. Unfortunately, due to very little funding, the shelter still has to build 90% of animal enclosures. The shelter receives no government funding and is fully reliant on fundraisers and support from the public.
The shelter needs your help. Look at the bottom of the page, where you will find the products necessary for the shelter. You can buy them online and they will be delivered to the shelter directly. Tell your friends about our project and the possibility to help animals all over the world!
