Kitty foster Crete is privately run and funded house for kittens that need constant care. All of the kittens come in bad conditions, usually less than 2 weeks old, which means not everyone will survive. It is extremely hard to take care of a young kitten, that still needs milk, that is dehydrated, full of worms and ticks and basically given up. But the Kitty Foster does everything they can for them and at least give them a chance.
The kittens stay in small boxes, until they are old enough to move into cages. The organization uses the boxes because the kittens can not be allowed to be in too hot, or too cold environment. With fans and heating pads they regulate the temperature according to each kittens needs. When they are old enough to eat on their own, they move them to bigger cages that have more space for climbing, playing and running around. When they have at least 1 vaccine, have had parasite treatment and show no signs of illness, they can have free access outside.
The area is far from busy roads and the cats have olive field after olive field to play around and bake in the sun. But even if the garden and outside area are perfect in a way for the cats, they do need homes. Since they are bottle fed, they usually become highly social and yearn the company of people. Some of the cats even know how to sit and heel! The best thing in world is to curl to your lap and start baking gently, giving small kisses to your fingers. And the purring never stops!
