Tiara – Associação Tiarama is a private nonprofit organization that was legally founded in 2015, although its founders have been doing similar volunteer work for over 10 years.
The main goal of this organization is to rescue cats and dogs from the streets, heal them, spay and neuter them and try to get them adopted by good families. In addition, it is engaged in implementing Trap-Neuter-Return programs for feral cat colonies.
Tiara – Associação Tiarama receives no government funding whatsoever but, in spite of the limited means and volunteers, it has managed to find nice homes for hundreds of animals.
The former (and very first) shelter Tiara- Associação Tiarama had, used to be an abandoned house with no electricity nor piped water. Despite the tough work, those old walls allowed the volunteers to save many animals.
Currently, the rescue has a rented space where some works are being done in order to build a decent shelter for cats. Unfortunately, the donations are very few (and most of them go straight to pay veterinarian expenses) so the work is going quite slowly because it is basically being paid through small sales on fairs and through the Facebook page. Besides, the rescue supports some needy families by offering them food and/or veterinarian care for their pets.
The shelter is constantly in need of dry and canned food and cat litter. However, at the moment, the shelter needs a lot of other things too, among them cages, cat pole scratchers, toys, etc.
